President Obama was at it again the other day, hatin’ on LV like a red-headed step child. He seems to have a real disdain for the entertainment capital of the world. This is the second time he has singled out Las Vegas, Nevada as an example of wasteful spending and further alienating Nevadans and their pocketbooks. Today he issued an apology for his statements. After all he must “welly be sowwy!” but not, apparently, to the people of Nevada. His apology went to Harry Reid. It seems they’ve traded these things like baseball cards lately. Do something stupid, apologize and it’s all good. Make a racist remark? Hey, it’s OK! Just send a formal letter of apology and all is forgiven. What I’m curious about is when this game is eventually going to fail. You can forgive bad behavior with clear remorse only so many times. Unfortunately, the Democrats have played this game for years.
LasVegasNow.com had this to say.
Obama is catching heat from Nevada lawmakers and business leaders regarding his comments Tuesday criticizing trips to Las Vegas. During the president’s town hall meeting in Nashua, New Hampshire, he discussed the need to curb spending during tough economic times. “When times are tough, you tighten your belts,” the president said. “You don’t go buying a boat when you can barely pay your mortgage. You don’t blow a bunch of cash on Vegas when you’re trying to save for college.” The president’s comments come nearly a year after he criticized companies that received federal money for taking corporate junkets to Las Vegas. “You can’t go take that trip to Las Vegas or go down to the Super Bowl on taxpayers’ dime,” he said at the time. Local business leaders say Nevada tourism suffered last year in part because companies canceled trips to Las Vegas in the wake of the president’s comments.
I find it even more interesting that “Lurch” Kerry and John “protector of the innocent” Murtha have yet to say their apologies for calling Marines in Iraq stupid, unintelligent murders who, in cold blood, kill women and children in the dead of night. Now THERE is an opportunity for them to shine! My Golly!
So there it is. Maybe we should start judging these people by the character they exhibit when not on guard and stop accepting their repeated bad behavior just because they say they’re sowwy.

Normally, I would say that the people/leaders of Vegas are being a little touchy. Just one more example of people looking to be offended. But, if a real & significant downturn last year can be directly attributed to the chiding words of The One, then I can understand their concern.
Why does the President seem to harp on Vegas, anyway? Is it because it’s a familiar junket/vacation spot for people in his social circles (i.e., attorneys, professors, politicians)? Why not mention Aspen? How about Disneyland? I don’t know. Maybe he should encourage people to keep their vacations in-country? (No. Our international partners would complain, too, ‘cuz everybody’s hurtin’.)
Actually, I agree with Obama that people need to spend more wisely (however hypocritical that may sound coming from him). However, maybe he should change his rhetorical style to be more… encouraging of a little more thriftiness, instead of TELLING us “You don’t” and “You can’t”. And, obviously, he needs to avoid mentioning specific places.

Thanks for the comment and your readership.
He harps on Vegas because it represents an activity that is done by middle and higher class individuals. If everyone was handed 1,000.00 when crossing city borders into Vegas, he would be happy as a jaybird.
It kills me that he asks us to sacrifice so he can spend, spend and then spend. Him asking us to “sacrifice in the short term” so he can supposedly spend us out of this recession is an insult to me and we are still on the hook in the long term for every dollar he spends.
I think he should be pulling his belt tight while lowering taxes so we can spend. This is a consumer driven marketplace and economy and we need you and I to spend money to get this kick started. More consumer spending breeds growth in the businesses who are providing the goods and services but he is too worried about passing a 2 trillion dollar healthcare bill and cap and trade to focus on jobs creation. We need tax relief and we need jobs, not healthcare and carbon credits.

Funny how a simple apology can go so far and erase so much as long as you are from a certain side of the house. I recall, not so long ago, GOP rep Joe Wilson publicly called Obamalamadingdong a liar, and, regardless of the truth of the issue, to some, an apology was not quite enough.

As to Obamalamadingdong’s social circles, I do not recall seeing videos of him hanging out with attorneys and professors, nor can I remember seeing footage of him celebrating at private parties with politicians. The social circles I remember seeing him in centered around America hating racists like Reverend Jeremiah Wright, communist revolutionary and co-founder of the Weather Underground Bill Ayers, the good people of Acorn, and Palestinian Liberation Organization spokesman Rashid Khalidi. Maybe Vegas isn’t Reverend Wright’s style; Pehaps Khalidi won’t be skiing at Aspen this winter; Acorn’s schedule is probably too full of things like election fraud and helping people lie on their taxes for junkets; and I’d like to think I would never run into Bill Ayers at Disneyland.
